‘Another win for women’s cricket’ – Players and pundits look back on ‘best ever’ World Cup
The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand provided an unprecedented level of drama for an international ODI cricket tournament, with nail-biting finishes the order of the day throughout a hugely competitive group stage.
A monumental 12,463 runs were scored across the span of the tournament, the most at any ICC Women’s World Cup.
And Aussie pair Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes now occupy the top two spots for most runs scored at a ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, with 509 and 497 respectively.
It was Healy’s brilliant 170 that set the platform for their victory over England in Sunday’s final, and the Australian players have since taken to social media to celebrate their triumphant campaign.
Soooooo, we did a thing last night 🙌🏽💪🏽🔥 WORLD CHAMPIONS! Incredibly proud to be part of such a special team. Celebrated the Skippers 100th ODI in style 💚💛 #CWC22 #TeamAustralia— Jessica Jonassen (@JJonassen21) April 3, 2022

It’s not just the victorious Australians who have been reflecting on the tournament.
Losing finalists England have also offered their congratulations to the winners, while players from the defeated semi-finalists, West Indies and South Africa, have been looking back on a famous tournament.

Tournament hosts New Zealand didn’t make it into the final four despite some impressive showings through the group stage.
But the White Ferns have been keen to thank their fans and followers for the support throughout what has been a wonderful six weeks Down Under.
Despite the positive vibes, the ego of White Ferns star Katey Martin took a bit of a bruising when the daughter of Kiwi legend Ross Taylor made a late change to her favourite cricketing role model from the CWC…

Katey Martin to Ross Taylor's daughter Mackenzie- Do you wanna be a White Fern?
Martin- Who is your fav player
Martin- Usually people say Suzie Bates
Mackenzie- Melie Kerr
Martin- Oh, no you stick with me.#NZvNED #CricketTwitter pic.twitter.com/neq8RMLGAm
As well as the players, pundits from across the world have been reflection on just how special this edition of the CWC has been.
Another tournament comes to an end but what a fantastic spectacle right throughout. @ICC Here’s to all the broadcasters, administration and most importantly the players on taking it up another gear. Another win for women’s cricket and women’s sport 👊👊 #CWC22— Isa Guha (@isaguha) April 3, 2022

After the #CWC22final the Aussie squad circled the pitch and sat there for hours. Even after the floodlights went off, they weren't in any hurry to leave. Finally, the sprinklers came on and that's when the team moved inside— Snehal Pradhan (@SnehalPradhan) April 4, 2022
Such a well deserved celebration for a champion team. https://t.co/p8bGGfjRp2
