Top five bowling spells at CWC22
Ecclestone was easily the best-performed bowler at the tournament and her 21 wickets meant she topped the leading wicket-takers list easily. While teammate Danni Wyatt received the Player of the Match award in the semi-final against South Africa, Ecclestone wasn't far behind as she picked up six wickets in a mesmorising spell of spin bowling. The England left-armer bowled key batters Marizanne Kapp and Mignon du Preez during the middle overs and then cleaned up the tail swiftly to ensure England qualified for the title decider.
The South Africa all-rounder picked up the first five-wicket haul of the tournament with a sensational spell of seam bowling against England at Mount Maunganui. It was a host of important batters that Kapp dismissed too, with the South Africa veteran removing Danni Wyatt and Heather Knight with the new ball, before returning later on to get rid of Sophia Dunkley, Katherine Brunt and Kate Cross. Kapp also contributed a solid 32 with the bat and it was no surprise she was named Player of the Match for her heroics.
Rowe picked up her maiden five-wicket haul with an impressive display against Pakistan. While Rowe may have been a tad expensive during this spell - she went at almost a run a ball - she did pick up key wickets, with Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof and the experienced Nida Dar among her victims.
A total of eight bowlers collected four-wicket hauls at the tournament, but it was Dar that had the best of those with her economical spell during the rain-affected match in Hamilton. The contest was reduced to 20 overs per side and it was Dar that shone most with a brilliant spell that helped Pakistan register the upset victory over the Caribbean side. Dar removed the dangerous Deandra Dottin and Shemaine Campbelle, before dismissing Kycia Knight and Chinelle Henry with consecutive deliveries on the final two balls of her spell.
Matthews' spell in Mount Maunganui was a match-winner as the talented West Indies all-rounder ripped through the Bangladesh top-order with ease. She trapped Shamima Sultana LBW in the opening over of the run chase and then picked up key wickets of Sharmin Akhter and skipper Nigar Sultana during the middle overs to keep the clamps on Bangladesh. Matthews then clean bowled Fahima Khatun late in proceedings to ensure the West Indies held on for victory.
